man, i hooked that bad boy up and you were not kidding. streaming audio sounds almost like a strong fm signal. when i compare playing itunes stuff on the mac to having my ipod hooked up directly to the amp, there is a very noticeable difference as well - the dac is incredible.

thanks again

Music Hall DAC25.2 Testimonial

Just a small story to say: "Thank you for this excellent product!"
Last summer, when looking for a "music server" kind of thing, I bought a Sonos ZP90 & 1TB NAS and converted my entire cd music collection (85% Jazz, 10% electro, 5% other) to WAV format in order to play it via the Sonos. Because of the nice weather, I spent most of the time listening outside to my Soundcast Outcast wireless outdoor speaker. My Rotel RC-1082 pre-amp is connected to both the Sonos and the wireless Soundcast transmitter. Everything works fine that way.
During the winter, I use the Soundcast wireless speaker in my office for some background music. However, one month ago I went down to the living room where I wanted to listen to some music via the Sonos player on my Rotel RB-1090 & B&W 803D speakers. This didn't work out at all! I wrote some WAV files on a cd and put it into the Rotel RCD-1072 CD player. What a difference! So much more dynamics and clarity! The CD player is using Burr Brown DACs, and I really like that sound. The Sonos DAC, whatever it is, is not bad, but sounds very flat and is missing warmth and dynamics.
I looked on the Sonos website and saw some articles referring to the usage of the Cambridge Audio DAC Magic. I contacted my dealer (http://www.heymanreference.be/), who also has Music Hall. The CA improved the sound quality of the Sonos quite a bit. So, I said "Put it in the box, it's sold!". The dealer said: "Wait, let's do another test", and he plugged in the MH dac 25.2... What a difference compared to the CA DAC Magic! And an even bigger difference compared to the standard Sonos DAC!
After some listening, I said: "Well, in this case, put the Music Hall in the box instead of the DAC Magic."
Now, I don't hear any difference anymore between the Sonos and the Rotel CD player playing. Exactly where I was looking for! Your DAC brings an incredible added value to my Sonos. The former Burr Brown DACs combined with the tube output is a very bright move!
From my old days, I still have a Sony ES MD deck. I hooked it up as well. Also here, more detail, more dynamic.
Thanks! Great job!
